First of all, let me say WELCOME!

I have compiled some information to help you understand the benefits of massage
and what to expect. The thought of getting a massage can be intimidating
for many people, or at the very least, may seem a little awkward.
Hopefully, what you read here will put your mind at ease. If you do have additional
questions or concerns, please feel free to
contact me.
What to expect:

1) My massage is so amazing that you will be ruined for all other therapists...
Seriously.

2) Upon arrival at my office, you will fill out a brief
Health History & Consent
form. We will go over any information that may need clarification, (i.e.
Anything that I need to be aware of such as injuries, illnesses, surgeries,
etc...), and any questions or concerns that you may have.

3) I will step out of the treatment room while you disrobe to your level of
comfort, and position yourself on the table, as instructed, beneath the
blanket and top sheet. There is a restroom adjacent to the treatment room
for your use.

4)I will knock on the door before entering the room. Please let me know if
you are ready to begin.

5) I usually begin the treatment with you in the prone position, (face down),
or lateral recumbent, (on your side), if you are pregnant or have other
restrictions. Only the area that I am massaging is uncovered. You will never
be fully uncovered. Your privacy and boundaries are respected at all times.
Please read my
policies page for clarification. If anything feels uncomfortable
or invasive, please say so immediately!

6) I will work on your back, neck, shoulders, arms, gluteals, legs, and feet. It
is of the utmost importance that you communicate with me throughout the
massage regarding the level of pressure I am applying. Nothing should be
uncomfortable, or make you want to hold your breath.

*** once I have completed this part of the massage, I will instruct you to turn
over, while I securely hold the draping/sheeting in place for your privacy.

7) In the supine position, (face up), I begin with a face and scalp massage,
then move to neck, chest & pectorals, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Again, I
encourage you to communicate regarding the level of pressure. (What feels
like "deep pressure" to one person, may feel like "fluff and buff" to another...I
am not working "on" you; I am working WITH you - Communication is key!!)

8) I will let you know when we have finished, and I will step out of the room.
Take a moment for yourself, use the restroom if needed, re-dress, and meet
me in the reception area. I will have water for you.

9) It is not uncommon to feel super relaxed, sleepy, or even a little
light-headed after massage. I encourage you to drink plenty of water to flush
out your system. One of the
benefits of massage is that we have moved
metabolic wastes out of the muscle tissue and you'll want to help your body
to expel it. Occasionally, you might feel a little tenderness in your lymph
nodes a day after a massage, this is again due to the body managing and
removing metabolic wastes.

10) I jokingly tell people not to engage in any complex math, or buy or sell
real estate, or make any important decisions for at least one hour after
massage...What's my point? Remain in that relaxed state as long as you can!
Massage stimulates your Parasympathetic Nervous System, triggering your
body's "rest and recover" response, whereas stimulation of your
sympathetic nervous system triggers your "fight or flight" response.
Marinade in that healing, feel-good place for a while!
